Sourced from a 1950s family archive, these paintings confront the unreliability of memory and the shifting landscape of family history. The works inhabit the threshold of reality and fiction, questioning the fidelity of what we choose to remember. Rooted in the visual history of the North East, the paintings dissect how the conversations, domestic life, and regional narratives of a bygone era become distorted over time. As these memories filter down through two generations, objective past is replaced by a deeply subjective, fictionalized remembrance.
