From the series 'We Knew the World in Fragments of Color', this work reflects on Victoria Ruiz’s experience of being born in Venezuela during political turmoil and later migrating to the United States. The series uses handcrafted costumes and staged photographic scenes to explore memory, displacement, and shifting identity through colour and symbolism.
Isolation reflects the paradox of migration as both a collective condition and an intensely solitary experience. Each body carries its own version of loss and reinvention, creating a sense of shared presence that is also marked by internal separation.
