From the series 'Para Tú Altar: Las Fuerzas Divinas de la Naturaleza', this work honours the spiritual and ecological relationships embedded within Afrodiasporic belief systems, where humans, nature, and the divine exist in constant exchange.
In Mis Flores para Tu Altar, Ruiz draws from the tradition of altar-making, where offerings are carefully composed according to each deity’s colours, attributes, and presence. Flowers function as acts of devotion and connection to the natural world.
Inspired by the artist’s own altar, seven figures appear adorned in hand-sewn floral garments. The work is both a gesture of gratitude and a return, giving back to the Orishas as embodiments of natural forces.
